Two very well-known and popularly used ‘Weight Loss’ supplements these days, are Garcinia Cambogia and Green Coffee Beans.
Each of them has its own advantageous effects and disadvantageous effects and they should be taken on as per an expert’s advice and supervision.
Garcinia Cambogia
What is Garcinia Cambogia?
Garcinia Cambogia is a pumpkin-shaped fruit; green when raw and yellow-orange when ripe.
How does it work?
The chemical hydroxycitric acid (HCA) is an active compound that blocks the enzyme ATP citrate lyase. ATP citrate lyase is the enzyme responsible for converting resultant glucose to fat stores.
This way, the body is saved from having layers of stored fat. In addition to that, as per several studies- HCA also boosts serotonin levels, which reduces appetite so that people who eat when sad or bored stop doing that. Serotonin also acts as an antidepressant making people happier.
Dosage?
For best results, use 100% plant-based supplements, which have a minimum of 60% of Chlorogenic acid; take 1500mg daily (30 minutes before each meal).
Benefits
HCA boosts metabolic rate, which helps burn calories and lose weight. In addition, it increases the level of serotonin hormone, which positively affects appetite (reduces food cravings), mood (happier) and sleep.
Furthermore, it has also been noticed that it has helped with health problems like arthritis, indigestion, edema and ulcers. Read more Benefits Of Garcinia Cambogia
Drawbacks
Some rarely reported problems were – stomach upset(might be for detoxification), slight headaches (due to cleansing), fatty stools, etc.
Very rarely, first-time users experienced slight skin rashes. Diabetic patients, pregnant women and breastfeeding women are major concerns, due to the presence of sugar in the pills, so should be more careful.
The more natural the product will be the less likely will be the side effects.
Green Coffee Bean
What is Green Coffee Bean?
Green Coffee Bean, as the name suggests, is the raw form of coffee beans; containing less than ¼ the caffeine found in a cup of coffee.
How does it work?
The chemical Chlorogenic acid is found in Green Coffee Beans, which is an antioxidant, that slows down glucose absorption.
Less absorption of glucose results in glucose being prevented from being stored as fat. Moreover, reducing glucose absorption also controls blood sugar levels, and reduces blood pressure.
Dosage?
It is best to use 100% plant-based supplements, which have a minimum of 45% of Chlorogenic acid; taking 1200mg daily (30 minutes before each meal).
Benefits
In addition to slowing down the absorption of fat from food intake and burning unwanted fat, it also assists in reducing high blood pressure, stabilizing blood sugar levels and has plenty of antioxidants that eliminate cell-harming free radicals.
There have been numerous studies that showed a relationship between Green Coffee beans and diabetes, blood pressure and cholesterol.
Which one will work for You, Garcinia Cambogia or Green Coffee Bean Extract?
The idea that coffee has caffeine is not applicable to green coffee beans because the amount is negligible. More than five doses of green coffee bean extract would be needed to have the same effect as a small cup of coffee.
However, patients with caffeine sensitivity and heart conditions will have to be cautious.
Although Garcinia Cambogia has been proven to be slightly more efficient than Green Coffee Beans; taking both of them together would be a good decision, since both of them work on different paths, and can work simultaneously.
However, my advice is not to take them for longer than 12 weeks, to stay on the safe side from too much weight loss.
