How Does Flat Tummy Tea Work for weight loss?

As the company claims, the Flat Tummy tea is made from 100% natural herbal ingredients known to reduce bloating and at the same time cleanse the body. There are two vital steps involve when consuming this tea.

  • Activate

In this stage, you need to consume the morning tea to prepare and activate your digestive system. Thus, the manufacturers of this tea have used 10 different ingredients (Peppermint, Cardamom, Green tea, Rhubarb, Cleavers, Dandelion, Liquorice, Cardamom, Cumin and Egyptian senna) including metabolism boosters and antioxidants.

  • Cleanse

The cleansing tea that should be consumed before bedtime works to detoxify your digestive system. It includes 7 natural ingredients (Senna, Peppermint, Cassia Chamaecrista, Liquorice, Caraway, Dandelion, and Rhubarb) that have been used in traditional medicine to flush out toxins from your body, thus achieve slimmer appearance.

The Main Flat Tummy Tea Ingredients

According to the FAQ on their company website, following Flat Tummy Tea ingredients can be found:

  • Peppermint (leaf)
  • Lemon Balm (leaf)
  • Liquorice (root)
  • Dandelion (leaf and root)
  • Cleavers (leaf)
  • Fennel (seed)
  • Green Tea (leaf)
  • Caraway (seed)
  • Cardamom (pods)

Are Flat Tummy Tea’s Ingredients Effective?

To understand more how the Flat Tummy tea works, it’s important to take a deeper look at its ingredients and how they affect the body. Both the morning and night tea contains almost the same ingredients that’s why it’s quite confusing how they differ from one another.

  • Senna leaf

Senna leaf is a non-prescription, FDA approved laxative. It is commonly used as a treatment for heavy constipation. In fact, it is administered to a patient to cleanse the digestive tract and gut before undergoing a colonoscopy procedure.

Since it is a laxative, most likely the user will experience fluid loss that is mistaken for weight loss, but there’s no apparent fat loss that occurs in the body.

It is not also recommended to consume Senna leaf for more than a couple of weeks as it will make a person laxative dependence (2).

  • Cardamon Pods

Cardamon is a spice used for traditional eastern cooking and has been known to boost energy and improve health. It contains a high level of manganese and iron that help in the cell’s metabolic processes. With this, you can expect that your body can break the glucose and fats that can be used as energy and eventually lead to weight loss.

Likewise, cardamom has anti-carcinogenic compounds that prevent the formation of free radicals inside your body (3). With this, the risk of developing cancer is reduced at the same time retards the growth of cancerous cells.

  • Green tea

Most detox based teas contain green tea as one of the ingredients as it is associated with weight loss and improve one’s health. Research showed that consuming green tea regularly increases the resting energy expenditure of the body (4). With this, green tea is known to promote fat loss and broke down the fat that is used for energy.

It also helps to improve the functions of the digestive system, thus reduced bloating and improve gut health.

  • Dandelion leaf

Dandelion leaf has been used for many centuries in eastern medicines. It is also used as a treatment for skin diseases and has diuretic effects to humans, thus makes the kidney produce and excrete urine (5).

This is similar to senna leaf in which the main function is to eliminate fluid from the body rather than the fat. Consuming dandelion leaf for a long time may result in dehydration.

  • Peppermint leaf

Traditionally, peppermint leaf has been used for cooking because of its taste and smell. Recent studies showed that it may help to improve digestive health, alleviate the signs and symptoms of IBS and reduce bloating of the gut (6).

  • Liquorice root

The liquorice root has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for digestive processes and for overall wellbeing. However, the evidence proving that liquorice supports the digestive system is very limited, but it increases cortisol production (7).

  • Carraway seed

Carraway seed is also known as black cumin, a compound that has a positive impact on the general health of an individual. Consuming carraway seed can boost the immune system, thus makes the immune system capable of fighting infection at the same time acts as anti-allergy.

Is there any side effect of Flat Tummy Tea?

As many people were looking for shortcuts to lose weight, many companies have come up with magic solutions that include equipment, pills, and teas. The Flat Tummy tea provides some benefits such as faster metabolism, energy booster, and detoxifying effects.

However, just like any other weight loss products, the Flat Tummy tea has its own side effects such as:

  • Dehydration

Since most of the ingredients in this detox tea have diuretic effects, there’s great possibility that dehydration may occur. The water loss that may happen while taking the Flat Tummy tea is not necessarily causing weight loss as it does not target the fat inside the body.

  • Allergic reactions

There are people who have allergies to plants and its leaves and roots. Thus, considering the ingredients of this tea, there’s great possibility it may cause allergic reactions that when left untreated can lead to devastating effects.

That’s why before consuming this tea, make sure to consult first your healthcare provider.

Final Verdict – Is Flat Tummy Tea Worth Purchasing?

In spite of the fact that Flat Tummy tea contains cleansing compounds that are known to reduce bloating and cleanse the body, but there’s no solid evidence that cleansing alone can help to weight loss in a healthy way.

Flat Tummy tea is a little bit expensive than other detox teas, but still many people have been using it. Perhaps, it is safe to say that this tea may work for other people but not at all.
